A personalised handmade and gilded ‘love’ glass sign, with a raised ‘x’ highlighting that unforgettable special location onto an original vintage map.

Whether for a newly engaged couple, anniversary or even yourself, this handmade genuine gold leaf glass sign is sure to be a special gift that encapsulates that treasured memory for years to come.

The letters are gilded using two traditional techniques, creating mirrored and matte surfaces, in genuine gold leaf. The special location is highlighted on a vintage cloth-backed map by a raised illuminated ‘x’, using matching gold leaf. 

The glass used has an incredibly striking clear bevelled edge — hard to capture in any photography — adding an additional layer of detail to this sign. Finished in a natural-colour handmade frame, with hanging cord.

I have a growing collection of vintage maps, and one will always be sourced if your location isn't already within them. A map’s quality will vary depending on its age, and often delightfully annotated by its previous owner elevating the sign’s uniqueness and originality further.

Gold leaf is available in a variety of tones, from 12ct white gold through to 24ct deep yellow gold, and in this instance, I’ll be selecting the best match for the lettering and heart to coincide with their map-pairing — promise, I’ll always choose a goodun’!

Once an order has been placed by specifying the location (county or town) and position (post code) of the heart, I will be in touch before making commences to clarify that the map found and the heart’s positioning is correct.

All works are handmade to order, and this piece, in particular, has a back-and-forth process between the framers and myself before elements can be finalised.
