DAVid SMITH’s ADVANCED Gilding WORKSHOP, MARCH 2019

Numerous techniques and materials have been combined here to create a glass-piece that celebrates the heritage of what is very much an endangered, unrepresented craft. To name but a few of these included are acid-etching, three brilliant-cut glass punties, both water and oil gilding, blended gold leaf between shades of 12–23ct, mother-of-pearl, blended enamel paints and three-dimensional convex lettering (layered and surface-gilded behind the glass panel).
